GLASSWOOL

USE
Glasswool is excellent for thermal & acoustic insulation, for fire resistance in walls and roof spaces in domestic, commercial and industrial buildings.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
It is glass mineral wool; made from silica sand.
PART 1 - INTRODUCTION
Moy Plus Rolls are lightweight glasswool rolls manufactured in Ireland. Available in a wide variety of thicknesses, lengths and widths, Moy Plus Rolls are excellent for thermal and acoustic insulation, for fire resistance in walls and roof spaces in domestic, commercial and industrial buildings. Moy Plus Rolls are ideal for timber framed buildings, acoustic insulation in partitioning and over suspended ceilings.
PART 2 - TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Environmental
The basic constituent of Moy Plus is glass mineral wool, manufactured from silica sand, the Earth's most abundant naturally occuring mineral.
Glass mineral wool is one of the most environmentally friendly insulation materials, inorganic and completely inert; over 70% of the raw material used in the production cycle is recycled. This process does not include the use of CFC's, HCFC's or any other environmentally damaging gases.
2.2 Durability
- Qdourless, inert and fully compatible with all standard building materials and components.
- Will not accelerate corrosion of steel, copper or aluminium.
- Will not sustain vermin or promote the growth of mould, fungi or bacteria.
- Will not slump or consolidate in normal building applications.
2.3 Fire Performance
Completely fire safe - Euroclass A1 fire rating when classified in accordance with EN 13501-1. This is the top tire rating available.
2.4 Benefits
- General Purpose Roll - to convenient ready-cut widths.
- Excellent thermal and acoustic performance.
- Exceptional tear strength.
- Completely fire safe - Euroclass A1 fire rating when classified in accordance with EN 13501-1.
- Durable - not easily damaged in storage, during transport or on site when installed.
- Easy to install.
2.5 Acoustic Performance
Widely used for noise control purposes in a varieiy of applications including light weight partitions and for sound absorption over suspended ceilings. Acoustic performance depends specifically on the thickness of the material, method of construction and other site factors.
PART 3 - PRODUCT PERFORMANCE & CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Thermal Performance
Completely fire safe - Euroclass Al fire rating when classified in accordance with EN 13501-1. This is the top tire rating available.
3.2 Attics - Insulating right between the joists
The tables below show the U-values achieved using Moy Plus Insulation laid in the roof void.
U-values are based on the first 100mm/150mm layer of insulation laid befween the joists, and the remaining thickness installed as a second layer, cross laid over the joists to reduce cold bridging.
